Pope Francis addresses members of the Catholic Factchecking consortium at the Vatican’s Clementine Hall, Jan. 28, 2022 | Vatican Media.

Pope Francis said on Friday that it is a human right to be “properly informed” with scientific data, rather than “fake news,” in a meeting with a Catholic fact-checking group focused on COVID-19 vaccines.

“To be properly informed, to be helped to understand situations based on scientific data and not fake news, is a human right,” Pope Francis said on Jan. 28.

The pope met with the International Catholic Media Consortium on COVID-19 Vaccines, which runs the website catholic-factchecking.com.

“We can hardly fail to see that these days, in addition to the pandemic, an ‘infodemic’ is spreading: a distortion of reality based on fear, which in our global society leads to an explosion of commentary on falsified if not invented news,” the pope said.

“Contributing, often unwittingly, to this climate is the sheer volume of allegedly ‘scientific’ information, comments and opinions, which ends up causing confusion for the reader or listener.”

The consortium includes Aleteia, I.Media, Verificat, and Our Sunday Visitor. It receives scientific consulting from the Barcelona-based Institute for Global Health. The group was awarded a grant in 2021 from the $3 million COVID-19 Vaccine Counter-Misinformation Open Fund sponsored by the Google News Initiative.

In a Jan. 20 post, Aleteia responded to reports about the project’s funding sources, saying that allegations that Aleteia had ties to George Soros or Bill Gates were “unfounded.”

On this issue I would like to say that Fact-checking (as the organization of groups dedicated to declare what is true and what is false) is not and never will be Catholic, but is contrary to Christian morality. It is a mistake to call it Catholic when it is not.

As we expressed in this article*, fact-checking emerged from one moment to another as a strategy of Freemasonry in the media, and is linked to conspiracies (which obviously exist and great examples of them can be read in the Bible).

Moreover, fact-checking pretends to replace the personal discernment that must be exercised during the personal life of each human being, by a direction based on blind trust to supposed experts.

In relation to Covid vaccines we have seen that these "verification sites" (misleaders is what they should be called :liar: ) have declared news as fake-news simply because it was claimed that the vaccines contained something that the manufacturers had not declared in their labels, and therefore if the manufacturer did not declare it, it was fake-news, as if somehow anti-Christian pharmaceuticals enjoyed a certain prerogative so that everything they said was considered to be true.

As we have stated, fact-checking has the medium-term objective of contributing to the censorship of truthful information while at the same time facilitating false narratives and their dissemination, and aims to give them a halo of credibility and "indisputable or approved knowledge", against which it would not be possible to assert anything to the contrary. For these reasons it is anti-Christian and must be fought by the Christians of the world as coming from the Devil.

(*) Article in which we already expressed that the purpose of fact-checking was to "take possession" of the truth in order to spread the lie officially and to try to cancel the personal discernment to which we as Christians are called. It can be accessed at this link:

:novac:
