Cómo Obtener Hoy la Indulgencia Plenaria “Urbi et Orbi”
El acto indulgenciado en este caso consiste en seguir con una actitud amorosa el acto de bendición “Urbi et Orbi” del Supremo Pontífice, que se impartirá hoy a las 18 horas de Roma (GMT +1).
Se puede obtener siguiendo la transmisión por los medios de comunicación (TV, radio, internet). (Nótese que esta indulgencia no es la que se concede recientemente con motivo del Coronavirus por el reciente decreto de la Penitenciaría Apostólica, sino que ya estaba establecida previamente en el Manual de Indulgencias en Concesiones 4° – Enchiridion Indulgentiarum – Paenitentiaria Apostolica, 4° ed. 16 de julio de 1999).
Se tratará de una bendición Urbi et Orbi extraordinaria, pues los pontífices suelen impartirla solo el 25 de diciembre y el Domingo de Pascua.
Presidiré un momento de oración en el atrio de la Basílica de San Pedro. Con la plaza vacía. Desde ahora invito a todos a participar espiritualmente a través de los medios de comunicación. Escucharemos la Palabra de Dios, elevaremos nuestra súplica, adoraremos al Santísimo Sacramento con el que al término daré la bendición Urbi et Orbi, a la cual se añadirá la posibilidad de recibir la indulgencia plenaria.

Además del acto indulgenciado, es necesario cumplir las condiciones generales aplicables a todas las indulgencias plenarias (Las que figuran en negrita pueden realizarse dentro de los 20 dias del acto indulgenciado):
- Estar bautizado, no excomulgado.
- Tener la disposición interior de un desapego total del pecado, incluso venial (que no reviste gravedad);
- Tener intención de ganar la indulgencia;
- Confesar sacramentalmente los pecados (Es necesario estar en estado de gracia al menos al finalizar todas las obras prescritas. Para varias indulgencias plenarias basta una confesión sacramental);
- Recibir la sagrada Eucaristía (es mejor recibirla participando en la santa misa, pero para la indulgencia sólo es necesaria la sagrada Comunión);
- Orar según las intenciones del Papa (rezar según su intención un solo Padrenuestro y Avemaría; pero se concede a cada fiel la facultad de rezar cualquier otra fórmula, según su piedad y devoción).
Nota: En estos tiempos en que los fieles no pueden confesarse sacramentalmente y recibir la Eucaristía, estos actos pueden reemplazarse por un acto de contrición perfecta y sugerimos realizar un acto de comunión espiritual.
Acto de contrición perfecta:
Confesar a solas con Dios nuestros pecados: Es un dolor sobrenatural y aborrecimiento por los pecados que uno ha cometido, acompañado de una firme resolución de no volver a pecar nunca, con la determinación de confesarse cuando sea posible y recibir la Sagrada Comunión.

How to Obtain Today the “Urbi et Orbi” Plenary Indulgence
The work granted with indulgence consists in following with a loving attitude the “Urbi et Orbi” act of blessing from the Supreme Pontiff that will be given today at 6 pm Rome time (GMT +1).
It can be obtained by following the transmission through the media (TV, radio, internet). (Note that this indulgence is not the one that was recently granted on the occasion of the Coronavirus disease by the recent decree of the Apostolic Penitentiary, but this one was previously established in the Manual of Indulgences: Concessions 4° – Enchiridion Indulgentiarum – Paenitentiaria Apostolica, 4° ed. July 16, 1999)
It will be an extraordinary Urbi et Orbi blessing, since the pontiffs usually give it only on December 25 and on Easter Sunday.

In addition to the work granted with indulgence, it is necessary to fulfill the general conditions applicable to all plenary indulgences (Those listed in bold can be performed within 20 days of the work):
- One must be baptized, not excommunicated.
- To have a disposition of mind and heart which totally excludes all attachment to sin, even venial sin.
- To have the intention to obtain the indulgence;
- To do a sacramental Confession of sins (It is necessary to be in state of grace at least at the end of all prescribed actions. One sacramental confession is sufficient for several plenary indulgences);
- To receive the Holy Eucharist (it is better to receive it during a Holy Mass, but for the indulgence only Holy Communion is necessary);
- To pray for the intentions of the Holy Father, the Pope (pray for his intentions one Our Father and Hail Mary; however any other pious prayer may be substituted).
Note: In these times in which the faithful cannot do sacramental confession and receive the Holy Eucharist, these acts can be replaced by an act of perfect contrition and we also suggest to add an act of spiritual communion.
Act of perfect contrition:
To confess alone with God our sins: is sorrow for one’s sins based upon love for God, which includes the firm resolution not to commit them any more, with the determination to do sacramental Confession when possible and receive Holy Communion.
